Stories are the creative conversion of life itself into a more powerful, clearer, more meaningful experience.  They are the currency of human contact.

—Robert McKee

Mission Statement: to produce consistently high quality plays that tell engaging and challenging stories that are relevant to people in all walks of life.

This mission is the source for the Raconteur name, which is defined as a "storyteller or a person noted for telling stories with skill and wit."  We chose the name because we are seeking to revive storytelling as a crucial community experience.  To that end, we will present lesser-known and new scripts in order to offer the Columbus, Ohio audience an increasingly diverse spectrum of plays.  In order to create a stable company capable of presenting these stories, we are also committed to making responsible financial decisions every step of the way.

Key Elements to Accomplish Our Mission

  • Leverage the talents of all theatre artists from the Central Ohio area
  • Create personal relationships with our audience members
  • Be transparent with our finances
  • Find new, effective means of marketing to people who don't typically attend plays
