My daughter just started participating in the drama club this, her senior year. She thought it would be easy, until she participated backstage. But she loves it. I hope she goes on to bigger theater as you do!

So very true.

I only worked on shows at the High School Level, but having taken some of those shows to states and onward, the work is very hard but extremely gratifying.

I like to look at a play like a duck in water... what you see above the water is the proof of long practices and hard work. The torrid paddling below the surface reflects the constant business and preparation behind the scenes.

When I was young I had dreams of being an actor but after one school play where I had a very small part I decided it was not for me. I fumbled my three lines. The practices were long and all the other things that you mention. My hat is off to any actor who can muster the courage to perform. Those who make it look easier are doing a lot of hard work.

Perhaps every bit as impressive is the fact that from the actor's perspective there was no doubt about that first rehearsal being that of a theatre company rather than simply people gathered in someone's home!

Right. I am stunned that we didn't think of that one in advance. We're bright people - what the heck were we thinking there? :)

May I also add that we learned not to throw ducks across the street to unaware people while yelling, "DUCK!" :)
